Susana Cruz’s artistic practice is primarily developed through oil painting, from a contemporary perspective connected to pictorial tradition. Chiaroscuro, linked to the Baroque, plays a central role in her work as a way to build depth, atmosphere, and emotional tension.

Su trabajo investiga el movimiento de los tejidos sumergidos en el agua y la forma en que la luz transforma la percepción del espacio y la materia. Le interesa capturar momentos de pausa y suspensión, donde las formas flotan y el gesto pictórico oscila entre el control y la fluidez.

Su formación como ingeniera de materiales influye de manera directa en su proceso creativo. Este conocimiento le permite trabajar de forma consciente con el óleo, los pigmentos y los soportes textiles, entendiendo su comportamiento, transparencia y densidad. A partir de esta base técnica, desarrolla una pintura donde la experimentación está guiada, pero abierta a lo intuitivo.

En su obra, técnica y emoción avanzan juntas. Cada pieza nace como una investigación sobre la luz, el color y la materia, buscando generar una experiencia sensorial y cercana para quien la observa.

Her work explores the movement of fabrics submerged in water and how light transforms the perception of space and matter. She is interested in capturing moments of pause and suspension, where forms seem to float and the painterly gesture moves between control and fluidity.

Her background as a materials engineer directly informs her creative process. This knowledge allows her to work consciously with oil paint, pigments, and textile supports, understanding their behavior, transparency, and density. From this technical foundation, she develops a practice where experimentation is guided, yet open to intuition.

In her work, technique and emotion move forward together. Each piece emerges as an exploration of light, color, and matter, aiming to create a sensory and approachable experience for the viewer.
